Raigarh: A 21-year-elderly person was stomped on to death by a wild elephant at a town in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh region on Sunday when he attempted to take a selfie with the creature, a forest official said.
The occurrence occurred in the first part of the day in Gudhyari town under Sarangarh forest reach when the man killed, recognized as Manohar Patel, and his three companions were attempting to click a selfie with the elephant, told Pranay Mishra, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Raigarh forest division.
A gigantic horde of neighbourhood occupants had accumulated in the town when the forest officials were attempting to pursue away the elephant into the wilderness region, he said.
In the meantime, Patel and his three companions went near the pachyderm while taking pictures with the creature on their telephones.
“The elephant unexpectedly charged towards them, following which three of them figured out how to escape from the spot while the enormous grasped Patel and stomped on him to death,” he said.
On being alarmed, the forest and police workforce arrived at the spot and moved the body for posthumous, he added.
The man executed has been given a temporary alleviation measure of ₹ 25,000, the official said.
As indicated by forest officials, the very female elephant had assaulted and killed an older lady in Malda town of the territory on Friday.
The elephant had entered the Sarangarh region from Saraipali forest of adjoining Mahasamund locale alongside its a few days back.
It was evidently in foul disposition as it was isolated from its calf on Sunday, they said.
Forest staff were attempting to join the two and guarantee their protected section to the deep forest, they added.
A few episodes of human-elephant strife were accounted for in the past from the thick forested northern Chhattisgarh, comprising of Surguja, Surajpur, Korba, Raigarh, Jashpur, Balrampur and Korea locale.
